A new and emerging national Internet Service Provider (ISP) based in Tacoma, Washington that offered very discounted connectivity services on a national basis.

Challenge

The business was growing rapidly and needed a strategic plan that addressed Marketing and Operations and that ensured profitability -and the continued ability to raise capital from the VC markets.

Approach / Solution

We directed the planning process with the Senior Management team and gained approval from the Board of Directors.

Enabling consumers to access the Internet from most major metropolitan areas in the US, and for a very competitive price, required extensive technology, consumer marketing, advertising and customer service support.

Accordingly, through strategic partnerships with Level 3 and other tier one-transport providers, Liberty Bay scaled rapidly to meet increasing demand. During this rapid expansion, Woodstock Group provided assistance to management, staff, partners and consumers.

Results

Throughout our assignment, the company was recognized by several press, industry and trade groups, that awarded the company the prestigious CLIO Award, Compaq and Cisco Partner recognition and the first nation-wide ISP partner to be recognized as one of the first 10 Microsoft Certified Solutions Providers.

The company was successfully sold to EarthLink. COM.
